And it is official now. Jesse "Jerax" Vainikka has returned to competitive Dota 2. The two-time The International champion was announced in the new Evil Geniuses roster.
Earlier, we revealed that SeaNostra had leaked the news of Jerax returning to the competitive Dota 2. For the uninitiated, SeaNostra is a Reddit user who regularly discloses inside stories of the Dota 2 circuit with a high level of accuracy.
And he got it right this time as well. He had even announced the team of Jerax. And yes, it was Evil Geniuses. The North-American team has brought in Jerax, hoping he can help them recover from the poor display at the world championship. They finished in a 9th-12th position.
Jerax returns after a two-year absence from the competitive play. He retired in January 2020 after winning The International in consecutive years. He had revealed a loss in his drive to compete and win as the reason for his retirement.

Jerax previously competed for OG in the two successful campaigns. The Finnish athlete will not just be changing teams. He has also changed the position he will play. Jerax played in the position 4 support with OG, but now he will be taking the position 5 support for EG.
Jerax will be reuniting with former-OG teammate Crit-, who captains the Dota 2 roster of EG. Also joining the roster will be Nightfall from the Virtus.pro roster. Nightfall replaces the now-Team Secret player iceiceice.
With Jerax and Nightfall, EGโ€™s new roster is as follows:
1. Artour โ€œArteezyโ€ Babaev
2. Abed โ€œAbedโ€ Yusop
3. Egor โ€œNightfallโ€ Grigorenko
4. Andreas โ€œCrit-โ€ Nielsen
5. Jesse โ€œJeraxโ€ Vainikka
Evil Geniuses had a devastating loss in the lower bracket in The International 2021, finishing only in the 9th-12th place in the world championship.
