The regional esports championship of the South-East Asia region is called the South-East Asia Esports Championship (SEA EC). The 2021 edition of the SEA EC will be in Vietnam in January 2022.
Vietnam is trying to cash on to the surge in the number of domestic esports players in the country during the pandemic. According to a white book on Vietnamese Esports 2021, there are more than 18 million domestic players in the country alone.
The Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sports Association (VIRESA) and the VNG are the main organisers of the regional championship.
Fifty-two teams from 10 eSports federations in Southeast Asia will compete for a prize pool of $140,000 in the main event.
The SEA EC organisers announced e-racing as one of the events of the tournament. The list of the events for the SEA EC includes some of the popular games like PUBG Mobile, Valorant and League of Legends: Wild Rift.
People aiming to participate in the grand tournament can register for the qualifiers online. The qualifiers are on December 24th on the RaceRoom platform.
The two best players from the qualifiers from each country will be competing in the individual and team events at the SEA EC 2021. The tournament, as aforementioned, is expected to be in January 2022.
These participants will also be competing in the Challengers Cup. For the uninitiated, the Challengers Cup will be a mega event on e-racing in 2022.
